...wait.
Given the Charger is a refreshed ‘08-’10 model, I wouldn’t say no to the keys to either. I don’t hate the louvers either.
Couldn’t see what transmission the M5. It was spotlessly clean and beautiful though. E60s always looked best in M form IMO.

The Hemi is probably easier and cheaper to replace than most of the parts on the E60, and other than electronics, these were fairly reliable I thought.

The reliable one? So the Altcord? :P

I’ve heard they like to drop valves on the 5.7s or something along those lines. I know my friend’s brother’s ‘06 R/T is on its third engine now.

The Dodge’s problems will be largely electrical as well, so it’s a toss up....

I can have 500hp and 204mph then?

It will be cheaper to fix that than replace the V10, which will happen.

Oh, I was referring to reliability. The Dodge will TOTALLY be cheaper.

I forgot who it was, but it was someone who knew a lot about them(TFritch maybe?), stated that it was a “when, not if” the S85 grenaded. I’d almost wager that that would be more expensive to replace than a couple of 5.7s.

M5
All.
Day.
Long.

Today I learned....

So.... the ‘00 Camaro?
![]() 04/06/2016 at 20:46 |

This. You could buy a fleet of 5.7s for the cost of one S85.

I thought it was you, and I’d rather have an E34 over them both.

Me too. One of my guys has a black ‘91 M5 he just did the head on, selling it. So good.

The camary? Because neither the BMW or dodge is reliable.

That can be said with any engine.

those new ones are rated kinda crappy too... pick the least worst I guess...

True. There is a CD Accord way in the back, though. Not exciting, but reliable.

Came here to say this, was not disappointed.

Your brother should swap his heads and pushrods and shim the valves if it’s that bad.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Anything else you want to know about dropped valve seats?

The S85's are prone to rod bearing failure when people don’t drive the cars hard. The bearings wear unevenly. Even you treat the car like an escort, wont necessarily save you from having to do rod bearings. It’s a big deal too. 90+k miles and it’s the danger zone. I know someone with a 130k mile M5 and no rod bearings yet. Drives it like he stole it, and the car runs great, but it’s certainly not out of the woods.
The 5.7s drop valve seats because it’s a steel ring in an aluminum head. Best fix is swapping to 6.1L heads and shimming the rocker arms for the clearance (6.1L pushrods are a different size). Hard to say if there truly is a best option. My 30k mile motor has a tick to it that’s making me nervous but I don’t have the time to tear the motor apart right now. It could be the MDS solenoids, it could be the EGR valve, it good be a rocker/lifter/valve. Sucks.
